Black History

Whew, I don't know about you guys but Valentine's Day in my class wiped me out!  I had to take a nap when I got home!  Now we are celebrating Black History Month and I think our school has done an amazing job exposing our students to Black History in all our special areas because when we went to do this activity, brainstorming was a breeze!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First, we brainstormed BH words and people and then created these:

Then we read the book, Duke Ellington, and took the beautiful words great for visualization and illustrated them:

Next, we read a biography on Duke Ellington and answered questions.  Here is a freebie for you including vocabulary!
